Beliefs of Jesus

Jesus said, ‘Come to me, … and learn from me, … for I am gentle and you will find rest for your souls.’

-Matthew 12:28-29. 

Come to Jesus: God’s Reality

1.     The Kingdom of God: the nearness and availability of God.

2.     The awareness of God’s relentless presence: living transformed by the closeness and accessibility of God.

3.     Jesus’ Abba: God is a tender father fully in love with each of us. 

Learn from Jesus: Fully Beloved and Fully Loving

4.     Our Identity: fully beloved in the eyes of God. 

5.     Our Goal in Life: love God completely and to love others fully…. And even to love ourselves.

6.     Our Humility: accurate self-perception opens us to experience the love of God.

7.     Our Work: God’s work for us is to trust in God at all times.

Rest for your souls: 

8.     The Invincibility of love: love is invincible and fully demonstrated in Jesus’ resurrection.

9.     Dying to the False Self: for true transformation, one must identify and die to their false and fragmented self.

10.  Pre-emptive Welcome:  Jesus welcomed everyone all the time.

11.  Transformation is an “inside” job: authentic change comes from the inside out.

Live like Jesus: addressing our broken behaviors:

12.  Loving Enemies: we are children of God’s Kingdom as we love our enemies.

13.  Anger: stopping anger in its tracks prevents triggered reactions and contempt.

14.  Murder: prevented through transformed anger.

15.  Broken Relationships: address relational division immediately and face to face.

16.  Adultery and Lust: transformed through a deepening love.

17.  Truthfulness:  simply make our “yes” a plain “yes” and our “no” a plain “no.”

18.  Being wronged by another: live demonstrating abundant kindness to them.

19.  Perfection:  wholeness and maturity showcased through mercy.
