Opportunities to Serve.

‘When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me … Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me’

(Matthew 25:35-38, 40).

Part of living and loving like Jesus is nourishing, welcoming, contributing to, caring for, and visiting others.

Join our church family as we serve at Laundry Love, Unity Shoppe and Santa Barbara Rescue Mission.

Event team
The Event Team helps to plan our Church activities, whether they be social, opportunities for growth, or our wonderful Fellowship time following our worship services.

Hospitality
Hospitality Ministry involves putting love into action, mainly through welcoming people to our Sunday service, hosting a meal after the service, and sending cards or calling those who are suffering.

Benevolence
Summerland Presbyterian Church maintains a fund to provide emergency help for people in need of financial support.

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a small group of people dedicated to bringing beauty to our sanctuary on special liturgical celebrations as well as on "Ordinary Time." Primary focus is to decorate the altar for Easter, Epiphany, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Bereavement
The Bereavement team assists families whose loved one is being memorialized at a funeral service at the church. We offer support to the family by providing a reception in our fellowship hall following the service, help in preparing the order of service as well as ushering.

Telephone Tree
Calling one another, including praying for one another in times of need.

Meals for the Ill
Our Meal Chain gives us the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus by providing meals for those who may be sick, recovering from surgery or a hospital stay, may be dealing with the challenges of cancer or are shut in. This is a wonderful way to care for our Church family!

Serve at our Church

Additionally our church has a dedicated group of people who serve others well.  They are called the Deacons, and are often referred to as the hands and the feet of the church.  The deacons support our community through an events team (weddings, funeral, showers, parties etc.), a hospitality team (aka the Sunday welcome wagon), meals for the ill, calls (including prayer), bereavement, sanctuary decor, and stewarding a benevolence fund.  Let us know if you would like to join the team.
